Macaroons @ G patisserie

Walked past Patisserie G at Millenia walk and decided to check out their Macaroons. Ain't cheap though at $3 / piece. But definitely worth every cent! I ordered the salted caramel and you can really taste the flavours bursting in each bite. The crust(?) of the macaroon melts in your mouth and you can taste the sea salt and caramel flavours. The lychee rose was pretty good too. I just thought that the sea salt hazelnut wasn't as good as the sea salt caramel, both are good just that the caramel one is better ;)

Well, I will definitely be back and this is a wonderful after gym treat to have!

Mu Parlour @ Holland Village

Decided to drop by Mu Parlour @ Holland Village for some desserts after lunch nearby. I was looking at the dessert counter and I saw my favorite red velvet cake ($8) and I definitely needed to get a slice for myself.

I went to order the Ginger lemongrass mint tea. ($6) I forgot that I hated mint in my tea and I didn't enjoy the tea as much as I did. Mint and tea just feels... weird. My stomach rumbled after a sip. I should be more vigilant the next time.

Overall the cake was good, I just thought that the tea was really pricey, it's just one cup for $6. Well there wasn't any service charge (explicitly), but everything was marked up anyway.

I would still come visit the place though for cakes and desserts, and also to people watch ;)

Red Velvet Cupcake - Marmalade Pantry @ Ion

I love red velvet cakes. Ever since I tried my first one at Food For Thought, I was addicted to it. I walked past Marmalade Pantry @ Ion and saw that they offered the Red Velvet Cupcake and absolutely had to get it. Their version of cupcake actually had real coconut shavings on top of it and it was absolutely delectable. Super love it. I devoured the entire cupcake with my dessert date. Think the cupcake only cost $4.50 and it was super worth every cent.

Will definitely be back!

Chocolate Devotion @ TCC Bugis

Cheat day today and I decided to indulge in some chocolate lava cake. Went to TCC at Bugis and ordered their chocolate devotion - approx $12. It is so good, the moment you slice open the cake, the molten chocolate inside actually flows out in a gush. I'm not kidding! Most of the molten cakes that I've had were pretty dismal, even the one at Morton's ($38 mind you) didn't ooze out of the cake much.

Am very pleased with this particular one that I had at Bugis, will definitely be back :D

Korean Kwakwaja

Friend bought me this really pretty box of Kwakwaja during his trip to Korea. It has only a short shelf life of 5 days and it needs to be refrigerated. they are like a mix between moochi and mooncake. The correct way to eat it as described in the little printout - is to slice the Kwakwaja into thin slices and enjoy it with a cup of tea.

It was indeed a very intricate experience biting and tasting this exquisite food. It probably packs as much calories as a mooncake. But it is too pretty to skip out on :P

Fruit Paradise @ Vivocity

Went to fruit paradise at Vivocity for some desserts. Ordered the seasonal fruit with cheese base (S$7.80) and the strawberry chocolate (S$7.80) with bitter chocolate base. Fruits were so fresh and absolutely delectable. Although the queue was pretty long, it cleared quite fast as most people just ate and left.

Do try the fruit teas when you visit, very very yummy tasting teas. Will definitely be back again!

Forty hands chocolate tarts

And so, we went to Forty hands for coffee. They have these epic chocolate tarts that are to die for. The coffee is fragrant while the tarts just melt in your mouth. The brown tubular thing is some kind of hazelnut that you really gotta eat together with the tart to taste its full glory.

Definitely worth every single calorie ahahaha.

Oh yes, the barista is also very very handsome ;)

Dates from Golden Landmark Hotel

It was the first time that I actually ate dates and it was actually a pretty good experience. Being chinese, the only experience I have with dates are the funny tasting kinds where they boil with the soups. Naturally I thought that dried arabic dates would taste somewhat like the ones I am used to hence I never really was enticed to try the dates....

Until a girlfriend of mine bought an entire bag and insisted that I try. I took the first bite with trepidation but was very surprised that it didn't taste as bad as I thought it would be! In fact I liked it so much that I fell in love with dates. Haha! So yes, these dates were bought at the basement of Golden Landmark Hotel's shopping area. There is a shop that sells only dates and they have a huge variety from the different countries.

Do check them out if you're looking for some good ol' middle eastern fare.

Nutella tart @ Everything With Fries

Nutella tart at Everything with fries is EPIC! Very generous nutella chocolate topping in a tart. $6.90 only! Top it up with $2 of vanilla ice cream and I guarantee that you will be in heaven. This is one of my favourite desserts. Super happy.

Definitely worth the calories and price!

Mount Faber Jewel Box

Went to Mount Faber's Jewel Box for a walk and a lunch. Went to the Sapphire level and ordered a salad and dessert. The fruit salad was alright, but the apple crumble dessert was an absolute delight. Warm, baked crumble, topped with a vanilla icecream. Ohh, heavenly goodness. When you dig into the crumble, you can see baked berries. Too good. Will definitely be back!

(And wow, the iPhone takes fantastic food pictures!)

Flower of the Sea @ Canele Paragon

Went to Canele for desserts with the girls. We ordered the "Flower of the sea" crepe and I must say it was to die for. Nutella, fleur de sel caramel, caramelized filo, ice cream and cream chantilly. $15 and calories was the most well spent that evening. Amazing amazing. I loved it a lot and didn't really care much about the calories. Sweet savoury crepe that was well matched with the fresh cream and icecream. The filo was very nice and melted in our mouths almost immediately. Even as I am typing this I am still salivating. LOL.

Ok, looks like I will definitely be back!

Avocado banana smoothie @ breeks cafe

And so I went to Breeks Cafe at Changi Airport Terminal 2. Having just came back from Batam, I was still craving for their avocado chocolate smoothie thing and was hoping to find something similar in Singapore. Turns out that Breeks actually have this Avocado banana smoothie thing that looked really good so we decided to try. The marriage of bananas and avocado was heavenly. They have this cookie bits in between the layers that added the extra crunch and flavour to the drink. I was very very happy. I think this is good as a meal on its own but I would recommend you to just share it with a friend and enjoy it alongside with other food.

Will definitely be back!

Portuguese egg tarts from Koi Kei Bakery

Brother just came back from Macau and he bought 2 dozen egg tarts from my favourite tart bakery - Koi Kei Bakery. I love the portuguese egg tarts from there because they are very crispy on the outside but fragrant and not too sweet for the filling. I used to hate egg tarts because they taste so oddly eggy until I ate this egg tart when I was in Macau 2 years ago. I fell in love with them and never turned back.  These egg tarts are best eaten after warming up in the toaster oven. Avoid the microwave as the pastry will turn soggy.

Nutella Tart @ Everything With Fries

Went to Everything With Fries @ Bugis Junction level 4 (old wing). I was looking at the dessert menu and saw the Nutella tart and thought it looked pretty interesting. I'm a big fan of Nutella by the way so we ordered it.

The wait staff recommended us to get the icecream ($7.95 including icecream-$2) along with it and so I did. Loved the tart, I think the crust was made with oreo cookies while the "filling" was a chocolate nutella sauce mix. It was a tad sweet though but it tasted nice and satisfied my sweet tooth. I would recommend it to be shared with 3-4 people to divide up those calories :P

Dark Devotion at TCC

Had a craving for some sweets after dinner and decide to drop by TCC @ Great World City to have some cake. We ordered the Dark Devotion (S$12 including tax) - chocolate lava cake that's supposed to ooze chocolate out from its core. Well, the chocolate did ooze out as promised, one of the better ones around but I still prefer the chocolate lava cake from Bakerzin and Morton's. Yes Morton's steakhouse. All in all, it's a comfort dessert for a friday night.

Pandan Chiffon Cake Mix from Prima

Was at NTUC today and I saw the Pandan Chiffon Cake Mix from Prima. It looked really good so I decided to try it out. I was kinda skeptical because the last blueberry cake mix from some random brand tasted pretty artificial and the last thing I wanted was a radioactive looking green cake out of my stove. But I decided to be adventurous and just went for it.

I followed the instructions to the tee, using my iPhone stopwatch to make sure I do not overbeat the mixture. The only thing that differed was that I didn't have a tube cake tin. I used a regular cake tin. Check out the colours in the picture. Really natural and not as radioactive looking as I expected.

All in all, the cake turned out really well, save for the slight collapse in the centre. But I suppose that can be rectified if I used a proper tube cake mould. Really lovely, cake mix wasn't too sweet and my dad actually helped himself to a slice after he tasted my test cake. He is a fussy eater who doesn't usually eat cakes, so that says quite a bit!

Go easy on the slices though, cakes always pack too much calories in too little volume ;)

Chocolate Scrabble

Brother received this chocolate scrabble set as a present and so we played it at one of our family gatherings. You have to try to form as many words as possible with the chocolate tiles and the winner will win the golden coin that's made of chocolate while the rest of the tiles will be distributed amongst the players. Chocolates didn't taste too bad. All in all, it's a pretty cute party favor.

Strawberries & cream from Big Red Strawberry Farm @ Cameron Highlands

Big red strawberry farm's strawberries and cream. Extremely fresh and sweet organic strawberries grown right at their farm in cameron highlands. Though it was a mountain of whipped cream but it balanced really well with the strawberries and syrup. Sinful
but worth it.

Cost: RM 7 I think
