Ya kun @ Terminal 3

Disappointing! We went to Terminal 3 to send off a friend and decided to have some food at Ya Kun. We ordered Mee Rebus and Laksa. Think Mee Rebus was $3.80 while Laksa was $4.50

Yes, what you see was what we got. The Mee Rebus DIDN'T even have half an egg in it. It was pure carbs and peanut sauce. Laksa was just normal, even though they claimed that the gravy was from Katong Laksa. I vaguely remember seeing an egg in the picture, but when my food was served, no egg. That said, in my entire life, Mee Rebus is always served with egg!!

Just had a very unsatisfying meal there. Never having their cooked food anymore. What a ripoff.

Forty hands chocolate tarts

And so, we went to Forty hands for coffee. They have these epic chocolate tarts that are to die for. The coffee is fragrant while the tarts just melt in your mouth. The brown tubular thing is some kind of hazelnut that you really gotta eat together with the tart to taste its full glory.

Definitely worth every single calorie ahahaha.

Oh yes, the barista is also very very handsome ;)

Poached eggs at Group Therapy

Went for brunch at this quaint little place called Group Therapy at Duxton. It's very arty farty and is a hit with the breakfast crowd. We decided to go check it out. While the ambience was fun and retro, I kinda thought the food was pretty overpriced. I ordered Poached Eggs and I think it cost me $16 for a slice of thick toast, some salmon (very little), 2 small eggs and hollandaise sauce. Being an expert with eggs, I could tell that they used smaller eggs instead of the regular big ones. I mean, paying $16, I would expect the eggs to be bigger? Lol.

But I guess our main gripe was that the service took a really long time. Like 20-30 mins before the food can be served. I wasn't exaggerating but it was really really slow.

I guess the flavor was alright, I kinda liked the poached eggs but my friend's order of the sunny side up was returned because the parma ham tasted funny. I think we feedbacked to the owner and at least she was nice enough to change the order to a stack of pancakes and followed up by saying that she will check on her batch of the ham.

My friends got really pissed and started to joke about how we need to go for Group Therapy after eating here. They really need to work on the pricing a little bit + service speed.

Once is enough :)

Lago Kitchen @ Clementi Road

We went to have a late night dinner at the shophouses at the junction of clementi and Pasir Panjang road.

I must say that I was impressed by the quality of food. We ordered a chendol for $2 while we had BBQ stingray with rice and egg for only $5.

The flavor was there, stingray was huge for $5 and there was even a fried egg. We were very happy diners and will be back to try the other stuff next time!

Dates from Golden Landmark Hotel

It was the first time that I actually ate dates and it was actually a pretty good experience. Being chinese, the only experience I have with dates are the funny tasting kinds where they boil with the soups. Naturally I thought that dried arabic dates would taste somewhat like the ones I am used to hence I never really was enticed to try the dates....

Until a girlfriend of mine bought an entire bag and insisted that I try. I took the first bite with trepidation but was very surprised that it didn't taste as bad as I thought it would be! In fact I liked it so much that I fell in love with dates. Haha! So yes, these dates were bought at the basement of Golden Landmark Hotel's shopping area. There is a shop that sells only dates and they have a huge variety from the different countries.

Do check them out if you're looking for some good ol' middle eastern fare.
