Went for dinner at Evertop @ Joo Chiat Road. It's a halal restaurant serving local chinese fare. A good place to bring your muslim friends to if you would like to introduce them some chinese halal food. We ordered the horfun, black pepper chicken and sambal kangkong. All were pretty spicy though so if you can't take space, remember to tell the server to add less chili. All these set us back by about $22 including drinks. I think it's a pretty good deal and nice rustic chill out place. Will be back :)

Asian Weight Chart
Came across this on one of the public weighing scales and thought it would be nice to archive it here. Asian BMI is slightly different as we have different frames. Some food for thought.

Nutella tart @ Everything With Fries
Nutella tart at Everything with fries is EPIC! Very generous nutella chocolate topping in a tart. $6.90 only! Top it up with $2 of vanilla ice cream and I guarantee that you will be in heaven. This is one of my favourite desserts. Super happy.
Definitely worth the calories and price!

Crepe at Out of Pan
Went to try out the crepe at Out of Pan @ Raffles city the other day. It costs an average of $15 for one. I've always been wanting to try them out but never had the chance to. Until that day it happened to be the great singapore sale and there was a one for one. Crepe was good, nicely cooked and generous fillings. We wiped them all out. However, I am not too sure about $15 price for one, cause it still looks like a pancake with filling inside. I don't know. Good experience nonetheless.

Hwang's at Utown
We went to Hwang's Korean cafe at University Town @ NUS. I've read reviews that they were cheap and good. Since it was nearby, I decided to check it out. Indeed it was cheap and good! Authentic Korean fare at pocket friendly prices. We ordered 2 soups + 1 drink and it cost us a total of $12. That includes the NUS staff discount (dinner date was NUS staff) but even before discount it was possibly $15 for 2 people. Still a very good deal.
It was a canteen style - so you go to the counter and order ala Ikea style, pay there and then they will recognise your face and send your order to your table when it's done.
The korean ginseng chicken soup had 1/2 a chicken in it and the Kimchi soup was very wholesome. The only disappointment was that there was not enough kimchi but I'm not complaining for the price we paid. Will definitely be back!

Wine Connection
Went to Wine Connection at Cuppage centre for dinner, wine and chill out with friends. It was nice to chat over a bottle of wine and the wine connection really is a nice set up for that. Unfortunately for food wise, it was a hit and a miss. My friend ordered the mushroom Risotto and it wasn't very nice. We sent it back to the kitchen and it still came back bland. Oh well :/
The pesto pasta on the other hand was al dente and pretty tasty. I liked it and will come back for it again. Although the food wasn't up to par, at least the wine and ambience was. So, good place to chillout!

Jco's frozen yogurt
I love my frozen yogurt dessert. It's the next best thing to ice cream. If you guys have been following this blog, I am a huge fan of the frozen yogurt and have tried quite a no. of them from all over Singapore. Today I walked past J.Co at raffles city and saw that they had this frozen yogurt section and immediately zoomed right into it after dinner. I ordered the yogurt with 3 toppings ($5 or less I think), chose chocolate drops, almond chips and mandarin orange as the topping. Super yummy, it was like having an orange chocolate treat.
You can't really go too wrong with frozen yogurt. Will come back again!

Thunder rice @ Malaysia
Have always been a fan of the Hakka thunder rice. Somehow it makes me feel healthier (although there's a lot of carbs in it). This was what I ordered at one of the hawker centres in Malaysia, Johor Bahru, Nusajaya. the ingredients looked pretty similar to what we have in Singapore. The soup wasn't as strong tasting, which was pretty palatable to me.
Definitely will be back again for more.

Chuan Jiang Hao Zi Steamboat (West Coast Plaza)
I bought one of those groupon deals for a steamboat buffet at Chuan Jiang Hao Zi. I stay pretty close to West Coast Plaza and have always enjoyed a good steamboat but I never had the chance to try this place out because I thought their standard steamboat buffet pricing was pretty pricey.
The food turned out to be pretty alright and they didn't have the peanut / sesame sauce that I like at other steamboat joints. Nonetheless I'm not complaining as the serving size was generous. Unfortunately what was not too nice about the place was that I discovered mini cockroaches running across the table top.
I'm not toooooo picky about insects around the table as long as they do not end up in my food. Then again, who's to say that in the food prep process, that didn't happen. :x
Vegs look fresh
yellow slip to order what we wanted
Nice looking table top sans the mini cockroaches
Pork liver
We liked the fish!
Mushrooms and bean stuff :P

Mount Faber Jewel Box
Went to Mount Faber's Jewel Box for a walk and a lunch. Went to the Sapphire level and ordered a salad and dessert. The fruit salad was alright, but the apple crumble dessert was an absolute delight. Warm, baked crumble, topped with a vanilla icecream. Ohh, heavenly goodness. When you dig into the crumble, you can see baked berries. Too good. Will definitely be back!
(And wow, the iPhone takes fantastic food pictures!)
