Prima curry la mian

Decided to buy a packet of Prima's Curry La Mian mix. It has been touted to taste really close to the real thing. At $2.80 a packet, it better be. Lol. In any case, this was experimental so I don't really care, I like to experiment with my food. And so I cooked accordingly to the instructions. The mix actually tasted really good.

It was kinda scary though, cause one packet is around 700 odd calories and I DEFINITELY will not be finishing it by myself. I added some eggs, tau pok, meat balls to make it into a hearty meal and shared it with my brother. Haha.

Weightloss tip - If the calories is too much to take, share it with somebody else! ;)

Will eat this again, but only once in a full moon.

Frozen Yogurt at Coffee Bean

Did you know that Coffee Bean actually has frozen yogurt and it actually tastes pretty good? Super yum. A small cup (pictured above) goes at $3.80 and comes in 2 flavours - tart and vanilla. The former tastes more like the natural flavour of yogurt while the latter is ... vanilla flavoured soft serve. They have a few fancy options, adding in an expresso, mixing with matcha and things like that. After eating so many times at Coffee Bean, I conclude that I love the plain flavours the most and I really like the yogurt parfait. (will post a picture of it soon)

A little tip - try it with the banana walnut cake. Goes really really well, the walnut cake is light and not too creamy, the cold yogurt complements it and adds an extra dimension to the cake.

Super yum!

Fruche @ 152 calories

Found a new snack at the supermarket. Fruche - some kind of pudding like yogurt thing. For a lack of a better description. Tasty and relatively guilt free. I told a friend that it is 98% fat free.. and he went, so the rest is made up of 2% pure fat?

Lol, that tickled me somehow. But it also brought to mind that I don't really know what the 2% is made up of. Time to do some research. In the mean time, I am still gonna enjoy my Fruche ;) Good tea time snack!

Ichiban Sushi @ Clementi Mall

Took mom out for a lunch together at Ichiban Sushi (clementi mall branch). We ordered one of their lunch set specials and it was massive. $25 for this lunch special that consisted of a soup, seared tuna with mentaiko, dragon roll, udon, chawanmushi and a slice of cheesecake. We shared this set and went a la carte on the other gunkans on the conveyor belt. $45 including tax for this set as well as about 5-6 coloured plates.

Price is ok for a japanese meal, most important thing was that mom was very happy. :) Money well spent. I think Ichiban Sushi's quality of food is better than sakae, that explains the queue that I see all the time!

Potato Thosai Sakunthala

Yum yum yum. We never fail to go to Sakunthala whenever we go to Little India. This time round we ordered a potato thosai. Thosai bread with potato as a filling. 3 sauces (2 curry, 1 yogurt based) on the side. Super yummy.

Super carbfilled too but at least it doesn't taste as oily as the other dishes that we usually order. I need my Paper Thosai fix soon!

Kim Chi Soup @ 311

Had a Korean Food craving and so I went to one of the food stalls at the Somerset 311's food court. $5 got me a bowl of Kimchi soup (chicken) with rice and some kimchi + ikan billis. Quite value for money and fills the tummy. But I don't fill like I've had my kim chi fix yet. Need to schedule a trip down to Ju Shin Jung soon. I miss their kim chi. :/

Homemade Kimchi Pasta

A good friend of mine, Charles, made an angel hair pasta for me. He znnged it up by adding kimchi on the side. Really yummy. Wonderful lower carb meal. (Look at the amount of protein versus carbs)

Nothing beats an awesome home made meal :)

Cod fish - Mandarin Oriental

The Legendary cod fish @ Mandarin Oriental banquet. My friends have always been raving about the cod fish at Mandarin Oriental wedding lunch/dinners and I was wondering what the fuss was about. Finally after a few years, I managed to get the opportunity to taste this dish.

The fish was warm when served and literally melts in the mouth. Sweet and savoury without being overwhelming. No wonder people were raving about it. Amazing!!!! Can't wait to have this dish again. The only downside, was that I only had one piece. Boo.

Wine connection @ Cuppage

One of our favourite hangouts is at Wine Connection @ Cuppage Centre. They serve pretty nice wines and munchies. We ordered this Merlot which was really tasty and easy on the palette + the 2 desserts below - Apple crumble and lime pie. Super delish! Apple crumble was hot and tasted really well as the icecream melted on top of it. And the lime pie (or was it tart), was just aammmmaazzing. Nice sturdy crust with soft fillings. The topping felt like some kind of meringue but it wasn't.

Best part of it all, the entire bottle of wine + dessert + service charge and GST only cost us S$45 and shared amongst 5 girls. Really good stuff as we had a smashing good time without burning a huge hole in our pockets. Will definitely be back.
